A: As an automotive engineer with over 18 years of experience, I have a passion for cars that has driven me to observe unaddressed issues within the automotive industry. Recognizing the challenges that many face without viable solutions, I founded a company aimed at providing innovative resolutions.
Q: What problem does your startup solve and how did you identify it?
A: Our startup addresses the pressing need for trust and convenience within the automotive industry. This realization stemmed from my direct involvement in the industry, coupled with a keen ear for customer feedback. Despite numerous challenges, it became evident that there wasnβt a solution to address these needs.
Q: How did the idea of your startup first come about?
A: The inception of our startup began during my time at technical school, when I envisioned creating a transformative venture similar to that of Disney, but tailored specifically for the automotive industry. Motivated by a desire to modernize an age-old sector and generate employment opportunities, the idea took root and became the driving force behind our startup journey.
Q: What is your startup's mission and how does it drive your daily operations?
A: The mission is pioneering a transformation in the automotive service industry by building a comprehensive network of vehicle owners and trusted mechanic shops. Our platform is dedicated to educating vehicle owners, ensuring they receive fair and transparent services, and empowering them to manage their own vehicle maintenance. Simultaneously, we provide mechanic shops with tools to enhance their service quality, streamline operations, and establish a reputation within a community of informed and engaged customers.
Q: Can you share the story of how you gathered your founding team?
A: I recognized my weaknesses and founded a team. Leveraging my network, I connected with a college friend who had successfully built and sold an app. Together, we elevated the vision, birthing a groundbreaking startup poised to revolutionize the world.
Q: How did you go about securing initial funding for your startup?
A: Despite lacking external funding, we've fueled our journey solely through bootstrapping. Why? Because we're firm believers in letting our results speak for themselves. And when they do, the funding will inevitably follow suit.
Q: What were some major obstacles faced during the early stages of your startup, and how did you overcome them?
A: One of our biggest challenges was mastering the mobile mechanic component. Initially, I managed all mobile auto repair services through a website, but it became exhausting and increasingly expensive to maintain. So, we pivoted to developing an automotive CRM, revolutionizing mom-and-pop shops and generating income without the grueling manual labor. Our vision is to eventually return to mobile mechanics, focusing on fleet services and freelance opportunities.
Q: Can you tell us about a time you failed and what you learned from it?
A: A memorable moment for us was applying for the Black Ambition Grant last year and not even qualifying, despite reaching the semifinals the year prior. While it stung, it highlighted the areas we needed to improve, particularly in solidifying our cost model. We took this lesson to heart, refined our approach, and launched a closed beta to work out the bugs.

A: The most rewarding part is the impact happening in peopleβs lives and the excitement for our startup. We are bringing great change; every time we impact one person, it brings us closer to our goal of changing an industry and affecting over a billion lives.

A: A typical day as a founder is a whirlwind of industry research, content creation for marketing, feature testing, and strategic team meetings. Every task fuels our excitement, knowing that with each step forward, we are growing stronger and getting closer to our goals.

A: We remain driven by an unwavering belief in our mission and the profound impact it has on others' lives. Lastly, I wish to leave a lasting legacy for my family.

A: The best piece of advice I received was from my father: "You can do anything in this world, just believe in the power that God has given you and do it," which has been my mantra.

A: Well, I haven't found balance just yet; I'm still working on that, but I'm getting better each day. I believe I will find it one day.

A: My leadership style has evolved dramatically. While I've immersed myself in countless leadership books, true growth comes from embracing the role of a leader and holding myself accountable.
Q: What does success look like for your startup, and how do you measure it?
A: Success for my startup means realizing our vision and transforming the entire industry. We aim to revolutionize the automotive sector, just as Uber, Lyft, and DoorDash reshaped their markets. Our goal is to become the pioneers in everything automotive, creating a new workforce and setting new standards. We measure success by our ability to innovate, lead, and see tangible industry-wide change.

A: I foster a culture of innovation by embracing every idea, no matter how unconventional it may seem. I believe that true breakthroughs often come from what initially sounds impossible. Success comes from daring to explore and nurture these bold ideas.

A: We underwent transformative shifts in our startup journey. Initially offering mobile mechanics through an app, we pivoted to developing an Automotive CRM, aimed at revitalizing small auto shops and enhancing customer relationships. Now, we're evolving into a comprehensive automotive powerhouse, offering CRM solutions, a fleet of mobile mechanics, cutting-edge automotive software, and even establishing ourselves as a media authority in the automotive industry.

And most importantly, discern when to delegate, entrusting tasks to those who excel where you lack. These pillars fortify the foundation of a thriving business venture.
